Test Automation From the Ground Up Test automation is a great tool for reducing the effort and cost of testing, in fact, sometimes it is the only way to go. So, how do we decide when test automation is appropriate? What factors to keep in mind? How to get started? This white paper discusses the first steps any organization should consider to set up test automation professionally. It outlines the process from gathering the information needed to estimating costs, return on investment, benefits, selecting the tools and keeping maintenance under control. Author: Yaron Kottler and Vasily Shishkin, QualiTest Group
Automating Tests on Flash/Flex applications Flash/Flex application testing can be automated, but several criteria need to be evaluated before choosing the proper technique. From a test automation standpoint, Flash/Flex applications vary by factors such as types of user interactions and overall application complexity. The level of interaction required from a user could lead to solutions that are more difficult to implement or less so. Certain techniques are more reliable, but have drawbacks for the tester such as time to implement. With the proper technique setup, a tester can get the most out of their Flash/Flex test automation efforts. Author: Neri Lavi
Keyword Driven Testing Approach The purpose of this document is to provide the reader with a clear understanding of the Keyword Driven Testing approach which is, in many cases, a mandatory requirement required to successfully implement cost-effective automated testing. Rather than engage in a theoretical dissertation on this subject, I have endeavored to be as straightforward and brutally honest as possible in discussing the issues, problems, necessities, and requirements involved in this approach. Exploratory Automated Testing Exploratory Automated Testing is a method integrating Test Automation within the Exploratory Testing Session that enables the testers to save money and to become more productive during test execution. Authors: Ayal Zylberman and Nitzan Shenar, QualiTest Group
A Process-Complete Automatic Acceptance Testing Framework We present a new automated software acceptance tests framework. The framework is novel in supporting the entire life-cycle and all QA activities, including test maintenance over multiple versions, interaction with programmers and business analysts, traceability to specifications, multi-user test cases and more. This enables a significant increase in QA productivity and product quality. We compare our framework to other available tools, products and frameworks, and present several patterns and anti-patterns for implementing a successful automated acceptance testing solution. Enhancing automatic tests for graphics based applications This paper describes the problems using image comparisons in automatic tests, and reviews two image processing algorithms which can be integrated into the existing automatic test tools. Author: David Birin, Automation Project Manager, QualiTest Group
