Just look for the big, bright smile, and you might spot Michal Talor, Qualitest Lead Quality Engineer from Israel. Originally from Givat Shmuel, a small city near Tel-Aviv, Michal is a fitness enthusiast who loves her 5 AM run.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and management, Michal joined Qualitest 6 years ago as a QA Tester, assigned to one of our largest FinTech projects. Since then, she has embarked on a remarkable journey and now leads a team of 70 test engineers.

Michal has always been up for challenges, be it personal or professional, and she enjoys tackling them with confidence. Talking about her goals and her team, she says, “As long as I set the right goals and work towards achieving them, I know I’m on the right path. My passion at work is to lead the team to a better place and help them attain success at both the personal and professional fronts. I strongly believe in the self-fulfillment and confidence in one’s inherent potential. Hence, I consistently encourage each tester in my team to work towards it.”

Technical expertise

Michal believes her investment and hard work towards her studies have paid off, and her immense technical knowledge has helped her throughout her career.

She is an SQL expert and has experience in MF-Test (mainframe testing solution) with an in-depth knowledge of development languages like C and C#.

Software testing and the Qualitest journey

Michal is a Software Engineer who chose software testing as a career. Talking about her career choice, she says, “I feel this profession goes well with my character. I am neat, meticulous, and accurate, which is the essential characteristic of a good software tester. As a software testing expert who has development skills, I think the familiarity of the two worlds is very concise for communication and systemic management in the overall testing process.”

In addition to her love for testing, Michal enjoys the deep connection she shares with her clients and partners, as a part of her role at Qualitest.

Message for future testers

Giving out few tips to next-in-line testers, Michal says, “To succeed as a tester, all you need is…flexibility, flexibility, and flexibility. Our role is dynamic, so we need to be flexible to the changes that come knocking at our door. We always need to have that out-of-the-box thinking ability and be as creative in our work as possible. The most important thing is to never lose focus on the main goals that we set for ourselves.”

Life apart from testing

Michal loves reading books about personal empowerment and scary horror novels. The book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ and ‘Don’t compare,’ an Israeli podcast, are just a few of her favorite pastimes.

When she is not reading and focusing on her professional life, Michal hangs out with friends, goes on dates and enjoys some quality time with her family.

Michal has recently acquired an interest in real estate and is always up for gaining more knowledge about it.
