01—Challenges
The Client is a Fortune-100 electric utility company and one of the largest energy companies in the US. Its service territories were hit by two successive storms that inflicted heavy damage through rain, snow and high winds. This impacted critical IT systems, straining them to capacity and forcing outages and response time issues. The investigation that followed revealed insufficient end-to-end performance testing of mission-critical storm applications as a root cause.

02—Solutions
Qualitest mobilized quickly and developed and implemented the first ever end-to-end performance test of its kind in the utilities industry. We also set up a continuous improvement process to increase testing efficacy.
03—Results
This led to greater resiliency in our Client’s IT systems and an improved understanding of the reliability and capacity limits of customer channels across web and mobile platforms, text messaging and automated interactive voice response phone systems.
The great thing is costs were reasonable, my team didn’t have to leave the office, it barely had an impact on workload, it addresses the need and desire for training and the team have a clearer view of test process and test techniques.
