Jamaica Glasgow is an outgoing, friendly, and fun Test Engineer located at our Greensboro, North Carolina office. She loves a good laugh, and is always advocating for issues that support women and mothers, and inspiring the younger generation to become a better human. Jamaica loves to travel and finds a passion for living and contributing to the society from life and her family (her biggest strength).
Jamaica attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which provided her with initial exposure to the software world. She became well versed in Excel, Word, necessary computer skills, and networking during her course, which helped her learn and understand different software needs required to meet client demands.
Jamaica’s technical expertise expands to various skill-sets, ranging from HP Quality Center (ALM), HP Quicktest Professional, Web Applications, SQL, Oracle Financial Application R11, SAP to JIRA. She has also worked on different projects in various industries.
Jamaica’s love for computers and the fact that technology and software would be a significant part of our lives in the near future, paved the way for her career in software testing. Talking about her passion for quality engineering, Jamaica says, “I get to work and test different types of software programs, applications and processes and also learn a lot about different industries.”
About her Qualitest journey she says, “When I saw this open position and researched about it, I realized my Information Systems Major led me to this profile. For the past nine years, I have been with the company and have been on nine different projects in major industries ranging from entertainment, financial, medical to industrial. I have worked on a wide range of testing platforms and have expertise in using Word/Excel to ALM. In the past three years I have been learning and working in agile technology. What I like the most about Qualitest is that I get the opportunity and access to many different testing processes and platforms which has helped me immensely in widening my industry knowledge.”
For our future generation of quality engineers, Jamaica advises to learn SQL and the technical side of everything along with the informational side.
When Jamaica is not busy brainstorming on various testing challenges, she loves to dance, socialize with her friends, travel, watch movies and listen to her favorite music.
Jamaica is an Event Planner in her free time, helping her close friend manage an Event Management company. She often helps with planning, which comes easy with her administrative skills, supporting the creation of agendas and programs, as well as the setup, design and clean up part of event management. For the past five years she has managed weddings, birthday parties, graduations, baby shower and girl trips. Talking about her love for event planning, Jamaica says, “It is gratifying to see people not have to worry and work too much about the details and just enjoy their day.”
